Meet our Support Coordinator, Shabnam
Shabnam began her career not in disability care, but accounting and project management.
If you live in Sydney’s south and need assistance with understanding and implementing your NDIS plan, look no further than our Liverpool office!
Our Support Coordinator, Shabnam, explains: “In Sydney, we are based in two different locations. One is in Parramatta and one is in Liverpool. I am primarily based in Liverpool. If you want to come and have a chat about your NDIS and your goal, I’ll be here and I’m happy to help you.
What sets Leora apart?
“One thing that sets Leora apart from other providers is we genuinely care about our clients,” she continues.
“I have gotten feedback from my clients that their previous support coordinator was not present to help with their NDIS. No matter how many times they give them a call, they were not available.
“At Leora, we’re always there to help our clients and go above and beyond.”

Feeling valued
Shabnam began her career not in disability care, but accounting and project management. However: “I was not happy. I was doing research, and I came across the disability sector, and I was quite intrigued.”
She started as a carer and ventured into full-time office roles in the sector. “For the first time in my career, I felt that I was valued.”
In Leora, she started as a Care Coordinator (a role now called “Client Coordinator”) before transitioning to the Support Coordinator role, working closely with clients and their families. “I always wanted to progress myself as well and do more for my clients and I wanted to be directly involved. I’m learning, every day is a different day.
“When I can see that my client is achieving their NDIS goals, it gives me immense job satisfaction.”
If you had one superpower…
One superpower I wish I had is to teleport myself from one place to another. I’m from Nepal, my mum, my dad and my sister are far, far away from me. So it would be so cool to just like one day go to Nepal, have dinner with them, come back.
Tell us one thing most people don’t know about you.
I left my family when I was only 16 years old and moved to the US for my higher studies. I did my higher schooling, my bachelor’s there. And I met my husband online. That’s why I actually moved here (to Sydney).
What do you love doing outside of work?
I really enjoy cooking. I love cooking food for my husband. My husband and I, we both are like foodies. He enjoys my cooking, which hypes me up. I don’t know if he’s lying!
